Crude post-fermentation corn oil is a non-food oil obtained in the fermentation process of corn and recovered from post-fermentation broth (Moreau et al., 2010).So far its application has been limited to being used as a feedstock in transesterification with methanol to obtain biofuel (Di et al., 2020; Monserrat et al., 2023) or as a fat additive in compound feeds (Kerr et al., 2016).
A positive feature of post-fermentation crude corn oil is the high content of phytosterols (Maki et al., 2018, Singh and Cheryan, 1998).These compounds are considered to be pro-health because they lower cholesterol and regulate the fluidity of cell membranes (Dufoure, 2008; Racette et al., 2015).
